Diverticulitis of the cecum is an uncommon disease and usually solitary. This condition is More frequently congenital than acquired. The diverticulum usually located on the anterior wall of the cecum near ileocecal junction, the clinical manifestation of which is liable to appear at earlier than that of d verticuium on the left colon. It is difficult to make correct diagnosis preoperatively being always, mistaken for acute appendicitis. Even at laparotomy, it maybe difficult to make a diagnosis, if there is severe inflammatory process around the diverticulum.
Recently, we had experienced a case of diverticulum of the cecum. It, was a solitary inflammatory diverticulum of the cecum on the anterior wall near ileocecal junction. Diverticulectomy was done and appendectomy was also performed. .
The clinical presentation and treatment, of this condition were discussed.
